T.P. Roses
There are many great reasons to study theoretical physics in college. Meeting women, however, isn't one of them. Of the 14 people who entered my class in first year there was 1 girl. Of the 6 who graduated there were no girls.
Thats not to say there weren't any girls in our lectures, there were. Just not many. Quite a few did experimental physics, and a few did either maths or mathematical physics.
Through the first three years I lamented the lack of women, until I started going out with Amy, my present girlfriend, a year before graduating. Now I find out that one of the girls in the year behind me in Theoretical Physics in UCD has just been crowned Rose of Tralee. I guess T.P. girls make up for their lack of numbers with their caliber.
